Light and Materials Shape EQUALLY’s New Atelier
– EQUALLY atelier NOLE –

  1. interior

EQUALLY atelier NOLE was conceived as a place that carries forward the identity established at EQUALLY’s Gotokuji flagship while expressing a more refined material palette and the delicate craftsmanship inherent in pastry making.

If the first store is a familiar crêperie woven into the everyday life of the neighborhood, this second location seeks to embody the care, precision, and respect for individual ingredients that define EQUALLY’s approach to making.
Rather than expressing these values through products alone, the entire space has been designed to communicate them.

The interior is enveloped in softly textured, beige plaster-inspired walls that quietly recede into the background, allowing the pastries, packaging, tableware, and changing qualities of light to take center stage.
Their subtly tactile finish evokes the warmth of handcraft while resonating with the gently curved counter, creating a calm and continuous flow throughout the space.

Stretching through the center of the shop, the large counter functions not only as a point of sale but also as the symbolic heart of EQUALLY. Its sculptural plaster-like mass is balanced by the transparency of the glass display, the precision of stainless steel,
and the warmth of natural wood, resulting in a pastry boutique that feels composed and refined rather than overtly sweet.

The integrated wall shelving was designed not simply for displaying merchandise, but as a gallery-like setting where EQUALLY’s packaging and baked goods can be appreciated almost as curated objects. Soft concealed lighting beneath each shelf gently illuminates the products while revealing the subtle texture of the plaster walls and the richness of the timber, adding depth, warmth, and atmosphere to the interior.

The open kitchen and display cases, visible through glass, were intentionally treated as quiet storytelling elements. More than showcasing the finished pastries, they reveal the craftsmanship and accumulated time behind each creation—an essential part of the experience that defines this store.

The exterior opens generously to the street while avoiding excessive signage or decoration. As evening falls, the warm interior light softly glows through the façade, allowing the shop itself to appear like a gentle lantern within the neighborhood. In the everyday streetscape of Gotokuji,
the intention was not to create something flamboyant, but a presence that lingers naturally in people’s memories.

EQUALLY atelier NOLE is a place that exists within the rhythm of everyday life, yet gently restores a sense of calm.
Through the careful interplay of light and materials, it expresses a new chapter in the evolving identity of EQUALLY.
