Respect the History and Reuse the Items
– ANCHORS CAFE –

  1. interior

This is a project to convert one part of 120 year-old Japanese house into a café. This café is located near “Shinnase Fishing Port” in Hayama.

We have named it “anchors café”, because the owner of this old house used to be a fisher man and had been supporting his family by fishing for many years. With our respect to the history, we made the logo mark with an anchor, a symbol of fisher men.

Though there was a lot of garbage in and outside of the old house, the owner of the café also joined cleaning and making some parts of the interior and exteriors. We have also reused some of the items found from the mountain of the garbage for the interior. We decided to put a wood deck at the place which used to be a yard, and voila, the lovely café was born!

This is a local-friendly café, and your dogs are also welcomed to come in.

We hope “anchors café” will be loved by local people.
