Mille mele is an apple pie specialty shop located 5 minutes away from Kamakura station in Japan.

The shop name “mille mele” means a thousand apples in Italian. The origin of the shop name comes from the layers of their pie. Their apple pies have 1,000 pie layers, and because of the layers, the pie rises and becomes very crispy when it’s baked. They use a lot of French cultured butter, which is said to be the world most delicious butter, for the pie pastry. The pie smells sweet and nice, and it leaves the rich taste of the butter in your mouth…such a sinful dessert.

The target customers are madames who visit Kamakura for sightseeing.

Utilizing the depth of the inside of the store, we have made the counter adjustable. On less crowded weekdays, we can set the counter closer to the front door and go closer to customers, on busy weekends, we can put the counter deep inside so that many customers can come inside and queue up. The ultimate red color of the interior immediately reminds us of apples. We have planned to attract customers with the sweet aroma of apple pies and the vivid red.

We have used glass windows for the kitchen space so that customers can see apple pies being made. We have decided to pile up the apple pie boxes high along the wall, hoping these boxes encourage customers to buy apple pie boxes as souvenirs. We hope this shop becomes a cute little place that magnetizes a lot of people.

We hope this place will provide lovely encounter with the world most delicious apple pie.
